The Staffordshire Wing ATC annual STEM camp is back, this time as version 3.0! Applications for staff and cadets will be through Staffordshire Wing Event Management System (EMS). Applications open January 2018.
The format of the camp is changing this year, and information on the camp can be found by exploring the site.
Intro
- Tier 1 – ideal for cadets on their first STEM camp or who are new to STEM activities.
- Tier 2 – for cadets who have some experience or more specific interests.
- Tier 3 – specialised training with a view to build experience and skills for career development.
Each tier will have several different streams, with specific activities in each. Cadets will have to choose their tier and stream at the time of applying for places, and the camp organising staff will endeavour to match cadets with their preferred choices.
Tier 1
All Tier 1 streams will consist of four half-day activities which are each 3.5 hours duration. There will also be evening activities on the Saturday and Sunday of the camp.
There are 160 cadet places available for Tier 1 (80 for each stream).

Stream α (Alpha)
This stream will consist of the following activities:
- Design and Build (Engineering)
- RAF STEM Engagement Team
- Infectious Diseases
- Wind Power Challenge
Stream β (Beta)
This stream will consist of the following activities:
- Design and Build (Electronics)
- Handy Hydro Challenge
- Beat The Flood
- Science of Music
Tier 2
All Tier 2 streams will consist of two full-day activities which are each 7 hours duration, with a break for lunch. There will also be evening activities on the Saturday and Sunday of the camp.
There are 60 cadet places available for Tier 2 (30 for each stream).

Stream α (Alpha)
This stream will consist of the following activities:
- Bronze Radio Badge
- Hot Air balloon challenge
Stream β (Beta)
This stream will consist of the following activities:
- Bronze Cyber Badge
- Robotics
Tier 3
All Tier 3 streams will consist of a single two day course, designed to give cadets skills and experience beneficial for those looking to apply for apprenticeships, college, university, or job applications. There will also be evening activities on the Saturday and Sunday of the camp.
There are 60 cadet places available for Tier 3 (15 for each stream).

Staff
The camp will need staff in various roles over the weekend, and any interested staff are asked to register on Staffordshire Wing Event Management System (EMS).
Roles available include:
- Activity Directing Staff (DS)
- Flight Staff (accompanying cadets around the various activities)
- First Aid Team Members
